Car and Engine Museum

There is a museum in town that is by appointment only. It is full of old cars and engines with a room full of old motorcycles as well. My parents neighbor made and appointment and invited everyone he could. We were lucky enough to have been invited too. It was so fun to see all of the cars. The picture of my parents are of them in front of cars from the year they were born. The kids had a lot of fun. Gabe ran from car to car checking everything out.

Alpine Ponds

We took the kids to Alpine Ponds Haunted Trail this year. There were a few carnival like stations and a trail that was all decked out with spiders and ghosts. Both kids had their faces painted. Gabe got a spider and Lydia requested a snake. They also had a tent with a movie playing. The kids both had a good time and the next day kept asking if we could go back to the Halloween place.

Camels Back

I took the kids to camels back a few weeks ago and Lydia made it all the way to the top all by herself. I was so proud of her!

A Lesson About Sacrifice

Yesterday was Gabe's first primary program at our church.  He had a little part to say and had been looking forward to it for weeks.  On Saturday they had a dress rehearsal and afterwards had earned ice cream sundaes.  Of course Gabe got chocolate all over his white shirt and tie.  I had planned on washing it for Sunday but Sunday morning came around and Saturday night it had slipped my mind.  So I asked Gabe to wear another shirt that he had with his sweater vest.  He HATES the sweater vest.  I am not sure what his problem with it is but I have not been able to convince him to wear it since I bought it for him.  It came down to a battle.  I gave in and left him alone.

Jon trying to keep the peace went in and talked to him about it.  He explained that sometimes we do things for people we love even if we don't want to and that is called a sacrifice.

This morning I was getting ready for the day and asked Gabe to have Daddy go down and get him a bowl of cereal for breakfast.  Jon was in bed and didn't really want to get up.  Gabe proceeded to tell Jon all about sacrifice.

I guess now we know that he is listening to us...at least some of the time.

Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic

The begining of September/end of August Boise has the Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic. The event lasts for about a week and every morning they launch Hot Air Balloons from Ann Morrison Park downtown. I had never been before and I thought it would be a lot of fun to see and show the kids. We woke up bright and early and drove downtown. It was amazing to see so many balloons go up at once. Lydia even got to "hold" onto one of the ropes as the balloon was inflated. It was so much fun and a good time was had by all. Next year however, I will have both kids wear their rainboots as the grass was extremely wet. (You can see how wet the grass was by looking at their pants.) We will definitely do it again next year. Who knows maybe Jon will even come with us next time!

MK Nature Center

Instead of looking like little owls I think it looks more like they are in the stocks!
