Strawberry Snatcher

The last few months since we moved into our new house we have been working on our landscaping. The first thing that we did was put in some garden boxes. We have 10 boxes. One for Raspberries, one for Blackberries, one for Strawberries and the rest are for veggies, tomatoes, carrots, beets, corn, squash, beans, etc.

We started getting strawberries on our plants about a month ago. Recently I have gone out to check for ripe ones. There have been a few that look like they will be ready in the next couple of days. Every time I go back out to check on them they are gone. I asked Gabe and Lydia if they were eating them. Gabe Quickly put the blame on his little sister. Lydia not knowing any better admitted to it. Although I still had some suspicions about her going and picking the berries. I thought it was a joint venture between the two of them.

Yesterday we discovered the real thief. BRIDGETT the dog!

Jon went out to plant an apple tree and there she was in the box snarfing down the goods. We really need to get a fence up around our garden area if we are going to enjoy any of our strawberries! But really, a dog that eats strawberries! Crazy!

Questions

Why is the sky blue?

This is the question that Gabe asked randomly while we were driving in the car yesterday. My answer went something like this...

Me: "Well the earth has its own atmosphere. Once you get out of the atmosphere you are out in space and something with reflecting or something...Outerspace is dark...blah blah blah...(Make up what I can remember from science class.)"

Gabe: "So the sky is blue because of the atmosphere?"

Me: "Sure. That sounds about right."

I think that I am going to have to brush up on some of my science knowledge for this kid!

Bird Watching

When we went to the birds of prey center in April they told us about a webcam here in Boise. There is a nesting box on 10th and Main. The last couple of weeks we have had a lot of fun watching the little baby birds grow. The web address is www.peregrinefund.org/falconcam. It so fun to watch and my favorite part is watching them eat, that is when they are most lively. So go check it out!

it happened...

It has to happen to every parent at least once in order to say that you have really had the parent experience. Well today, it happened to me.

Gabe

Cut

His

Own

Hair.

Thankfully we were planning on buzzing his head for the summer anyway. We weren't planning on cutting it quite as short as we did but thankfully he is a boy and there was no real damage done. Now let's cross our fingers and hope that Lydia never repeats this experience!

Long Time No Post

I know that it has been awhile since I posted anything. I just got all caught up. I have not been very good at taking pictures lately. Probably because I am so behind on scrapbooking.:) Anyway we are doing well and looking forward to the warmer weather that is suppose to be coming our way this next week. I have been working on quite a few projects lately. Some of them are top secret but I did post a before of my chairs that I am reupholstering. We will also be working on our backyard! I will post some pictures when that is finished too! I know you just can't wait!

Backyard Picnic

Every Wednesday we go to our local library for storytime. This last week they read a book about a picnic. At dinner Gabe decided that he wanted to have a picnic too so we set up the blanket in the backyard. The kids looked so cute together enjoying their dinner.

We dyed eggs on Saturday afternoon. The kids had so much fun that we ended up boiling more for them to dye.
