Life before kids

I remember my life before children. Jon and I would sleep in until noon. I had plenty of time to do whatever, whenever. I remember talking on the phone to mothers with their young children. It was sometimes hard to talk to them because I could tell that I never really had their full attention. Now my day has come. I have two small children. Every time I am on the phone I am always a little distracted. I find myself hearing a screaming child in the background and telling whoever it is I am talking to that I have to go. Someday I will be able to talk on the phone again without distractions. For now, I apologize to anyone who calls me. Especially me dear friend Kerry who has called twice this week. Hopefully we will get to Utah and be able to talk in person in a few weeks. :)

P.S. The good news is that the carpet is mostly clean. I think that I am the only one who can still tell where the poop was.

"Poop on the floor in my room."

I woke up this morning thinking that it was going to be a wonderful day. I had a fairly good nights sleep. Lydia actually slept until 3:30 and didn't wake up again until 6:30. The sun was shining. In my mind I thought it would be a wonderful day to go to the Zoo or out and about. I turned on the news to check the weather and then went into Gabe's room to get him up. He asked my to open the blinds so he could see out the windows. The garbage man came and went. Gabe watched him collect all of the trash on the street. I sat and nursed Lydia and made wonderful plans for the day in my head.

Then it happened.

Gabe came into my room. His first words were, " there is poop in my room. poop on the floor in my room."

OH N O! Maybe it isn't that bad, I thought to myself. I put down my baby and went to inspect the damage. There was definitely poop on the floor, all smashed into the carpet. "What do I do now? What is the best way to get poop out of the carpet?" I put Gabe in the shower and immediately went to call my mom. When she wasn't available I called my cousin who has had numerous blog posts about poop. They both basically said the same thing. Get up as much as you can and then put some cleaner on it. I did this. My mom told me to go to this cleaning store in town that has something that should get it up. I decided to google "cleaning poop out of carpet" I found a blog of a mom that said to use peroxide.

As I type this at 10am there is still poop in my carpet. I am sure that we wont get to the Zoo today. I think that our first stop will be the cleaning supply store. Hopefully we will be able to get out and do something fun once this whole poop fiasco is all figured out. I am praying that it wont stain the carpet.

P.S. Some of you may be wondering how the poop got in the carpet exactly. Well, we have been using pull-ups to potty train Gabe the past few weeks. As of yesterday he decided that he doesn't really like sitting in a wet Pull-Up. He obviously is still working on figuring out the whole big boy potty thing.

You're Cool Mommy

This morning I was getting Gabe breakfast. Below is our conversation.

Gabe: I want water Mommy. I want milk Mommy.

Me: Do you want milk or water?

Gabe: Water.

(I go to the kitchen and bring him a glass of water.)

Gabe: No, milk mommy!

Me: Do you want both?

Gabe: Yes Mommy.

Me: Ok.

Gabe: You're cool Mommy.

Me: Thanks Gabe, you are cool too!

Lydia's 2 Month Check Up

We went to see Dr. Hammer today for Lydia's 2 month check up. She is now 8 lbs. 5 oz. and 22 inches long. Dr. Hammer told us she looks beautiful and very healthy! This morning as we were driving to the office Gabe kept saying, " Going to see Dr. Laura?" It was funny because I don't listen to Dr. Laura that often, maybe once a week. He picks up so much!

HEY EVERYGUYS

Gabe has invented a new phrase that I think will catch on. Instead of everybody he says everyguys. I find it absolutely adorable and completely lovable.
